IFRANE

Ifrane, nicknamed Morocco's "Little Switzerland," is a clean, modern mountain town in the Middle Atlas, about 70 km south of Fez, sitting at over 1,650 m altitude.

Unlike typical Moroccan cities, it has wide streets, red-roofed chalets, neat parks, and a super tidy vibe—feels more like a European alpine village with fresh air and cool temps year-round.

Winter brings snow for skiing at nearby Michlifen and Hebri resorts, while summer offers escapes from the heat with cedar forests, lakes like Dayet Aoua, waterfalls, and hikes spotting Barbary macaques.

Home to fancy Al Akhawayn University and the famous stone lion statue (honoring the last Atlas lion), it's a chill spot for nature, fresh trout, and relaxing away from crowds.
